The Sirens, Scylla, and the Whirlpool of Charybdis

BOOK 12
They make it back to Circe’s island and bury Elpenor, then Circe give warning of what to expect on their way. First they have to pass the island of the Sirens, Circe tells Odysseus to put beeswax in all of his men’s ears and to have him tied to the mast, and under in circumstance to untie him. Next she gives him two alternatives on which way to go. They pass the home of the monster, Scylla, she eats six of the crew, the hardest thing Odysseus had endure on the way home. Then they have to get pass the whirlpool of Charybdis . Next they come to the island of the sun-god, things where fine for about a month when their food ran out. The crew slaughters some of the sun-god’s cattle and sheep while Odysseus is away. While trying to escape the island Zeus strikes the ship with his thunderbolts, and Odysseus only survives.
