Eumaeus

BOOK 14

Odysseus go and finds the swineherds hut, the hounds almost make an end of him, save for the swineherd’s intervention. The swineherd makes Odysseus welcome, disguised as he was, as was the custom of that day. Odysseus although the men who went to Troy with him, all die never reaching home, and the Phaeacians, their ship sinks in sight of the harbor, came to a heartbreaking end, he must have been a good person to work for. Eumaeus certainly spoke highly of him, Odysseus, not knowing he was in the presence of his master.
