Getting Back to Ithaca

BOOK 13

Odysseus after telling more tall tales, and getting many gifts from the Phaeacians, finally get them to take him to Ithaca. Getting there the Phaeacians carry him ashore and all his gifts and leave, Odysseus has been asleep though all of this. Upon returning to their port the ship sinks, caused by Poseidon, Odysseus was a danger man to be associated with. He wakes up, not knowing where he is at, then comes Athena, she transforms him into an ugly beggar and they plot the destruction of the suitors. Athena tells Odysseus to meet up with his swineherd Eumaeus, and tells he can be trusted.
